Wednesdays will no longer be a holiday for government institutions, after the Department of Essential Services issued a circular today, cancelling the arrangement it put in place a month ago.
Government offices will therefore be required to return to work from this Wednesday (April 8).
The circular added that the holiday was cancelled to ensure the efficient functioning of the country's essential services.
The government last month declared every Wednesday a public holiday for government institutions, schools, and universities to reduce fuel consumption amid fears of potential shortages due to the conflict in the Middle East.
However, essential services including health, ports, water, and customs were exempt from this decision.
