SriLankan Airlines has suspended its flights to Kuwait for a week, amidst a fresh escalation of the military conflict in the Middle East.
The suspension was effective Monday (June 20) afternoon until July 26, SriLankan Airlines confirmed.
It also advised passengers affected by the suspension of flights to contact 1979, if they are within Sri Lanka, or +94 11 777 1979 internationally.
Inquiries can also be made on WhatsApp +94 74 444 1979 (chat only), by visiting www.srilankan.com or the travel agents through which bookings were made, SriLankan also said.
Context
The temporary flight suspensions follow a fresh wave of Iranian missile and drone strikes over the weekend targeting regional facilities hosting U.S. military assets.
The sudden escalation on Saturday (July 18) forced Kuwait International Airport to briefly halt operations and reschedule flights as air defense systems were activated.
International carriers have since paused or re-routed flights into Kuwait until regional air traffic conditions stabilize.
