SriLankan Airlines has appointed its Head of Engineering and Accountable Manager Vipul Misra as Acting Chief Executive Officer.
Misra takes over the role that was left vacant after the departure of Richard Nuttall in May 2025, when he moved to become President of the Philippine Airlines.
In a statement, quoted by media, SriLankan Airlines said Misra would “provide strong technical and operational direction during this interim period, as the national carrier of Sri Lanka works towards enhancing its performance and long-term sustainability.”
Background
Misra joined SriLankan Airlines as the Head of Engineering & Accountable Manager in August 2024.
Misra has previous served at several large commercial carriers, including Air India, Vistara, Indigo, SpiceJet, Kingfisher Airlines and Air Deccan.
He holds a Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering from the Delhi Flying Club and a Master’s in Aerospace Law from NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad.
