Sri Lanka will offer Nepal USD 1 million in financial assistance after devastating floods

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has asked the government to extend the aid package following torrential flooding that has killed more than 400 people, with over 1,000 still missing.

The floods that tore through the Nepal–Tibet border on Wednesday have left widespread destruction in their wake, leaving both local residents and foreign tourists among those dead or unaccounted for.

Sri Lankan authorities confirmed that no Sri Lankan nationals have been reported among the casualties or missing so far.

"I am deeply saddened to learn of the tragic loss of life following the devastating floods in Nepal. Sri Lanka stands ready to assist Nepal in rescue and clearance operations. As a nation still emerging from a deadly cyclone just 10 months ago, we share the grief of the Nepalese people. Sri Lanka joins me in expressing its deepest condolences to [President of Nepal], [Prime Minister of Nepal] and the people of Nepal"
