Sri Lankan javelin thrower Rumesh Tharanga won his second major international competition of the year, taking the top spot at the Ostrava Golden Spike meet in the Czech Republic on Tuesday.
Adding to his victory at the Diamond League meet in Rome — where he threw a personal best of 92.62 meters — Tharanga edged out Anderson Peters of Grenada with an effort of 86.57 meters in Ostrava.
Tharanga currently holds the world-leading throw for the 2026 season, underscoring an exceptional year in which he has broken the Sri Lankan national record twice and recorded the best four throws of his career.
