Air quality reaches unhealthy levels in several cities

Air quality in several cities across the island reached unhealthy levels on Wednesday.

Kotte had the most hazardous PM2.5 reading of 120 as at noon today, while Kegalle, Galle, Puttalam and Anuradhapura all registered readings of over 75.1 -- the threshold for unhealthy air that threatens health effects on all groups of the population.

Air quality in Kolonnawa, Dambulla, Galle Fort, Kegalle, Mannar and Polonnaruwa all reached a reading that may cause health effects to the members of sensitive groups.
